SYNOPSIS

Once upon a time, there was the center of the world. A city so famous and so powerful that the world seemed to revolve around it.

Between the 8th century BCE and the 4th century CE, Delphi was one of the jewels of the ancient world. This mythical sanctuary owed its fame to the renowned Pythia, a woman with extraordinary powers whom people from all over ancient Greece came to consult.

Forgotten for nearly 1,500 years, the sanctuary at Delphi was rediscovered by French archaeologists in the early 20th century. For the past 130 years, the French School of Athens has been conducting regular excavations at the site. In 2025, a large-scale excavation campaign yielded new information that now makes it possible to reconstruct Delphi in 3D. This 3D model reveals the secrets of this city, which was once considered the center of the world.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

A graduate of ESJ-Lille [École Superieure de Journalisme de Lille], Thibaud Marchand is passionate about History. He directed 26' and 52' films for “Roots and Wings”, but not only that: He is also the author of ~ten archaeological documentaries made for the series “Sur nos traces” [titled “Humanity’s Footsteps” in Heritage] and “Archaeological Investigations”, broadcast on ARTE, and two 90' grand format films for Science, on France 5. Happiness according to Thibaud is “one foot in a castle, the other in an excavation field”. And the camera is never far away.
