A frenetic remix of public access television, video diaries, commercial mass media and citizen journalism sequenced as short vignettes featuring musical and poetic performance, documentation of state violence, political theater, and expressions of Black love.

Set in the village of Bazouriye in South Lebanon, 66 Days follows filmmaker Joude Bazzoun’s return to her homeland after witnessing Israel’s 2024 onslaught on Lebanon from abroad. Through intimate conversations with her family, Joude uncovers the losses they have suffered as a result of the war. The film reflects on the importance of memory and tradition by exploring the ritual of a card game and family gatherings. 66 Days quietly resists erasure, preserving the family’s stories and heritage while celebrating the defiant joy found in simple family traditions. <img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/0adb806afbec1353564ce7bdbabe4a40.png" width="45">This film screens with Open Captions.

After witnessing Israel’s 2024 onslaught on Lebanon from abroad, a filmmaker returns to her village in South Lebanon, where conversations with her family bring their losses to the surface. Through the ritual of a card game and family gatherings, the film reflects on the war’s threat to erase memory and the traditions that bring them together.

Intimately kaleidoscopic archival footage of nature and the African diaspora is paired with 1940s interviews of formerly enslaved people reflecting on their childhoods, allowing a window into seeing Black history through their eyes while exploring rebirth, life and death.
