Director Biography - Kyle Dalsimer

Kyle is an award-winning theatre actor living in New York City. He has performed Off-Broadway and across the United States, primarily in musical theatre. This is his debut film as both a writer and director.

Director Statement

I originally wrote "The Call" as an exercise in catharsis after a string of strange auditions, with no intention of taking it beyond the page. It wasn't until nearly a year later when the screenplay came back across my desk that I began to play with the idea of bringing it to life. After sharing early drafts with friends both in film and theatre, I realized how universal this story is for creatives. Even if you haven't been in the exact situation Adie finds herself in (I have not and hope never to), the feeling of a tense or uncomfortable audition, pitch, or job interview is something we can all relate to. In making this film, I hope we can all share in that common experience and find that catharsis I sought when first writing this story.
