Meg Littleton, amateur harpist and professional teacher’s pet, lives with her aunt, uncle and perennially popular cousin, Penny. When Meg discovers a commemoration ceremony is being planned for the shooting that took place at her high school ten years ago, she knows she must contribute something. After all, the shooting claimed the lives of three students, and one teacher— Meg’s mom. Meg decides to stage a full, musical reenactment of the event, and convinces Penny to star in the show. With her cast of high school misfits, Meg attempts to pull off this bizarre, tender, and unwieldy undertaking — while the adults, armed with denial, dogma, and rubber bullet guns, do everything they can to stop her.
