LIFT, powered by Hoodox and Indiana Humanities, supports Indiana filmmakers in producing short, uplifting stories of Hoosiers working to connect, strengthen, and celebrate their communities.

Siloina “Silo” Mercado has spent over 13 years quietly anchoring a strip mall on Indianapolis’s northside, repairing clothes and building a community one stitch at a time. A Mexican immigrant who learned to sew at age six, Silo transforms worn and discarded garments into something worth keeping—much like she has done with her own life. This is a portrait of a woman, a craft, and a neighborhood held together by the same thread.
