After the death of his father, Joe struggles to heal despite his mother's insistence on therapy. When he discovers a box of his father's old music at his uncle’s record shop, he begins to find comfort in the memories it evokes. Seeing the positive impact spending time with his uncle has on Joe, his therapist allows him to skip appointments, a decision that deepens the rift between mother and son. In the end, they both come to realize that they are two people mourning the same loss in different ways.
