Director Statement
"Ask me any question about this film and I'll give you the same answer. Texture. This film was built from scratch to feel rich, detailed and rough-hewn. From the costumes to the sound design, I designed this film with deep grooves and crackling hope against the night. This is a story of survival, of isolation and contemplation. And it's a story about our relationship to the land. In this tale, the land itself is a kind of body - and our protagonist's relationship to it mirrors our own relationships to our bodies. It can trap and overwhelm us, pin us down - or we can be liberated by it."
